Harriet Barber House & Congaree National Park

The 19th annual Congaree Swampfest celebration continues on Saturday, October 7th @ 9:00 AM at the Congaree National Park and at 12:00 am at the festival site (THE HISTORIC HARRIET BARBER HOUSE & GROUNDS, 116 BARBERVILLE LOOP, HOPKINS, SC 29061).

This year we are bridging the gap with a wide array of major and local Gospel, R&B, Jazz, and inspirational recording artists (singers, bands,  instrumentalists,  and many other eclectic guests will perform. (see schedule below).

 

Free shuttle  will carry visitors from the festival site to the national park. Activities will run throughout the day, offering a free and great opportunity for visitors to experience the rich culture of the Lower Richland Heritage Corridor. No matter the age or interest, there are activities for everyone! Bring your family and friends and enjoy a day out in Richland County.

Free parking will be available on and near the festival site, Historic Harriet Barber House & Grounds, 116 Barberville Loop, Hopkins, SC 29061, with some limited free parking in the Congaree National Park, 100 National Park Drive, off Old Bluff Road, Hopkins, SC.

Join park staff for a weekend celebration of Congaree National Park and surrounding
communities. 

​

Event will feature special exhibits, hands on activities for kids and  programs to enlighten and inspire.  Art contest with prizes awarded to top selections. 

​

It’s fun and it’s free!

​

*All programs will meet at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center.

​

National Park will host a variety of programs at the park including guided hikes, living history programs, kids activities and auditorium programs.  We will plan to offer walk up tours in addition to regularly scheduled tour that day.  There will also be an Owl Prowl on Saturday evening . In addition to programming we will plan to have exhibits and displays (similar to past events).  

​

The theme is to be announced. The youth art contest will be held again this year.
